Thomas, Lewis
(25 nov. 1913, Flushing, N.Y., EE.UU.–3 dic. 1993, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Médico y autor estadounidense. Asistió a la escuela de medicina en Harvard y más tarde enseñó en varias universidades. Fue presidente del Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center de Nueva York (1973–83). Tradujo en galardonados ensayos su apasionado interés y admiración por los intrincados misterios de la biología en lúcidas meditaciones y reflexiones sobre esta disciplina. El más conocido de sus libros tan leídos es The Lives of a Cell [Las vidas de la célula] (1974, Premio Nacional del Libro en EE.UU.).
